Engage with the content 

Design and content are two halves of the same coin. We're in the business of communication. End users don't distinguish words from visuals when they form an opinion of your work. They take in the whole piece and either like it or they don't. All too often, designers like to ignore the words until someone else fixes them later. Often, they'll think they can't – "I'm not a writer". Given some encouragement to try, they'll be better than they think. 

I believe that design teams that think about the whole communication and develop both words and pictures at once are stronger for it. And remember, thesaurus.com is your friend.
