Identity, printed material and website for a theatre company.
Osip Theatre are a young touring theatre company producing drama and comedy that already draws sell-out audiences and glowing reviews. I was asked to produce a striking identity, a website and the visual framework for all future show material.
The logo is formed of very simple geometric shapes – a circle and a 2:1 rectangle – that split and re-combine to make the letterforms. The intention was to reflect the ability of good theatre to descibe a lot with very minimal props and scenery, and also (since Osip move theatres with every production) the idea of disassembling and reassembling in a new location. A complimentary typeface was chosen that also had very geometric structure.
The individual letter shapes are used as frames for imagery and as graphic 'spotlights' throughout the material – posters, flyers and programmes – for each show and on the website. Over time this will create a very clear, recognisable identity in what is an often visually chaotic market.
