Concertina-bound publication of extracts from a selection of Central Saint Martins students’ dissertation projects.
Wrapped in a text-covered belly band, it can be read in two directions – concentrating on images or text – and can be flipped to the other side at any point via a die-cut panel at the top of each page.
As well as the design and production, I worked as part of a small team selecting and editing the book’s content. We worked closely with selected students to produce summaries of their writing, and ran facts, quotes and references as ‘ticker tape’ along the bottom edge.
The visual presentation of the projects was as important as the writing, so images were displayed at different levels of magnification in thin strips running throughout the publication. The cover was simply a collection of everyone's colour-coded strips.
